Myths & Facts

MYTH - Underfloor heating UFH) is too expensive - it costs much more than a radiator system

FACT - Given the recent price rises in steel and copper, underfloor heating is now probably the cheaper option

MYTH - You can't use UFH on upper floor levels

FACT - Our UFH system is compatible with most floor designs/finishes and can be used on all upper floor levels

MYTH - If it leaks - we're in trouble!

FACT - Our UFH pipe carries a 50 year insurance backed guarantee from the manufacturers and incorporates an oxy-diffusion barrier. We only use continuous pipe runs with no joins under the floor so there is virtually no risk of leakage

MYTH - We'll have to buy a special boiler

FACT - No you don't. It's the same whether you decide to have UFH or a radiator system

MYTH - Geothermal heatpumps can't produce enough heat for the whole house so we'll need a back up

FACT - Modern technology has produced a geo-thermal heatpump that will not only run your UFH system but will generate domestic hot water upto 60°C. The earth stores the heat absorbed during the summer months which is then harnessed during the colder months making it possible to heat your home during the winter for very little cost - no other boiler is necessary

MYTH - OK, we'll get a heatpump for our existing radiator system

FACT - Radiators run at a higher temperature than a UFH system which heatpumps can't currently achieve and sustain efficiently. This is why UFH is cheaper to run and subsequently produces less emmissions. Heatpumps are really only suitable for UFH

MYTH - We'll use solar panels to run our UFH system

FACT - Solar panels are brilliant for domestic hot water and don't need much sunlight to function. However, they do require daylight and in this country our darkest days are usually our coldest which is when we require our heating the most. Therefore solar panels cannot provide all required domestic hot water and heating during the winter months but will act as a 'top up' to any other method used
