How do air source heat pumps work?
The air source heat pump is either positioned outside or housed internally and placed by an external wall with ducting, eg. garage or plant room. Outdoor air is drawn in by large radial fan passing it over the heat exchanger. This heat exchange harnesses the abundant supply of energy within the air temperature, even at temperatures as low as -20 degrees. This energy is transferred through the refrigerant cycle, with cold air expelled from the heat pump once the energy has been extracted. High Efficiency
Our air source heat pumps contain a powerful radial fan producing high air pressure and increasing the output of the heat pump. Just 1kW of electricity can produce up to 3.8kW of heat making the system 380% efficient; compare this to the much lower efficiency of standard boiler systems or our competitor’s air source heat pumps.
Modulating Output
Modulating heat pumps offer optimised efficiency between the heat pump’s capacity, your heating requirement and the fluctuating out door temperature.
Navigator Control
All IDM heat pumps now come with the powerful NAVIGATOR controller. This control system allows for remote monitoring of your system by both GreenerHeat and IDM, ensuring the performance of your system through remote technical support. Other features include active weather compensation, total system control, intelligent defrost technology and bivalent control.
Quiet Heating
The thermally uncoupled casing provides quiet-running in the Terra-CL series. The casing acts as sound proofing, and thermally insulates the heat pump resulting in noise levels as low as 30 dB(a).
HygeniK
Our IDM HYGENIK hot water storage systems offers fresh hygienically clean hot water. This system can act as a buffer tank, integrating solar thermal panels, biomass heating into your system as well as contributing wood burning stoves which results in a much more efficient heat pump.
HGL Technology
Hot Gas Loading Technology, is an IDM patented technology that allows heat pumps to achieve higher temperatures without compromising on COP (co-efficiency of performance).
Long service life
Thanks to buffer accumulator and HGL technology, the heat pump runs less frequently, operating at maximum efficiency for longer and avoiding inefficient start up procedures. This extends the life of the compressor, resulting in highly cost effective technology requiring very little maintenance.
